THE CHALLENGE

Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and a strong recovery depends on their success. However, many face financial challenges that make it difficult to withstand prolonged downturns, such as those experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic.

To foster a resilient economy, we must ensure that small businesses have the resources and support needed to sustain operations, grow, and thrive. The South, in particular, experienced a slower recovery following the Great Recession—we must take proactive steps to prevent history from repeating itself.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Southern Opportunity and Resilience Fund (SOAR) is a concerted effort to invest in and help small businesses in the South and Southeast adapt, reopen safely, and rebuild.

SOAR provides access to flexible, affordable capital and free business support services to small businesses and nonprofits through trusted community-based organizations.

These organizations have decades of experience supporting small businesses, including those in low-income and rural communities.
